I don\u2019t know about you, but I feel like a white, freshly opened word document stares and dares me on days when I simply don\u2019t know how and where to begin with a blog.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Should I go for humour or get into the facts headlong? Have I \u2018\u2019lined up all the ducks\u2019\u2019 or is the \u2018\u2019hook\u2019\u2019 lost in a labyrinth of gibberish? Is the content engaging enough, will it live up to everyone\u2019s expectations and get the required <\/span>eyeballs<\/span><\/i>?<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, if you\u2019re still reading this, it means I am not the only wrestling with this dilemma, right?<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Hard-Sell but be Sincere. Be Persuasive but not Prosaic<\/b><\/h1>\n

\u00a0Figuring out how to compose a well-written blog can be baffling. It has to be eye-catching but must not be so factual as to turn someone away. It must include the highlights and advantages of the product you\u2019re selling but the sentence structure rules and accentuation shouldn\u2019t be forgotten. The grammar must be spot on, and the CTA\u2019s need to be interspersed & well-timed.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Phew! The list is exhaustive\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Adhering to the guidelines bleeds the vitality out of your creativity and drains you out.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0But writing persuasive copy shouldn\u2019t be such a tiring and convoluted procedure \u2013 It takes the fun out of writing.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0It can be fun and interesting \u2013 If you want it to be!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Writing for the love of writing<\/b><\/p>\n

Below, I\u2019ve put together a few fall-back pro tips that will guide you through the art of writing persuasive copy that is fun, interesting to read and nourishing for you as a writer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Let\u2019s get the ball rolling, shall we?<\/span><\/p>\n

Doing away with the sloppy <\/b>sales<\/i><\/b> expressions\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

When you\u2019re tempted to write a phrase or an expression that sounds like a cheap sales pitch \u2013 Do this – Read each sentence to yourself & think of yourself as the reader (prospective customer) on the other side.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Would you be put off by the line?<\/span><\/p>\n

If you find that the sales pitch sounds trustworthy and reliably shows how your customer\u2019s lives will be improved by using the product\/ service, consider your job done.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alternately, run a purpose check.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0A purpose check is quite simply an exercise where you ask yourself the \u2018core meaning\u2019 of the sentence.\u00a0<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0If you can’t think of a particular answer promptly, remove or reword until your content<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>sounds tangible and important enough for someone to read.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Top-down v\/s Bottom-up<\/b><\/h2>\n

\u00a0Expert writers don’t wrack their heads (and lose composure) over the beginning — They chalk out the Tail first, i.e. They write the nitty-gritty stuff first and build the Head, i.e. The rest of the body out of it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

WHO is going to read and benefit from it?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0HOW should I word it so that readers may enjoy the article and purchase the product\/ service I\u2019m trying to sell?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0WHERE should the content be marketed so that the article gets its due attention? WHERE are the competitor\u2019s blogging, tweeting and posting their content<\/em><\/strong><\/a>?<\/span><\/p>\n
